Wollte Papst Franziskus sagen, daß es „bis zum Moment der Verzweiflung“ die Chance zur Umkehr gibt, weil Gottes Liebe am Werk ist? Did Pope Francis want to say that "until the moment of despair" there is a chance to repent because God's love is at work? Oder wollte er darüber hinausgehen im Sinne einer Allerlösungslehre à la Drewermann? Or did he want to go beyond it in the sense of a doctrine of the soul in the style of Drewermann?

In der Dienstag-Ausgabe, 20. Februar, veröffentlichte der Osservatore Romano die Niederschrift einer Begegnung von Papst Franziskus mit einigen Kindern, die von der Vereinigung Fdp-Protagonisti nell'educazione (Akteure der Erziehung) betreut werden. It originated with a first orphanage on the outskirts of Romania and is supported by the Community Comunione e Liberazione (CL). Bei der Begegnung wurden dem Papst mehrere Fragen gestellt. At the meeting, the pope was asked several questions. Eine davon soll an dieser Stelle interessieren, weil Franziskus auf Judas zurückkam. One of them should be interested in this point because Francis came back to Judas.

Frage: Im vergangenen Jahr ist einer von unseren Freunden gestorben. Question: One of our friends died last year. Er ist in der Karwoche gestorben, am Gründonnerstag. He died in Holy Week, on Maundy Thursday. Ein orthodoxer Priester hat uns gesagt, daß er als Sünder gestorben ist und deshalb nicht ins Paradies kommt. An orthodox priest has told us that he died as a sinner and therefore does not come to paradise. Ich glaube das nicht. I do not believe that.

Papst Franziskus: Vielleicht wußte der Priester nicht, was er da sagte. Pope Francis: Maybe the priest did not know what he was saying. Vielleicht ging es dem Priester an diesem Tag nicht gut. Maybe the priest was not feeling well that day. Vielleicht hatte er etwas im Herzen, das ihn so antworten hat lassen. Maybe he had something in his heart that made him answer that. Niemand von uns kann sagen, daß ein Mensch nicht in den Himmel gekommen ist. None of us can say that a man has not gone to heaven. Ich sage dir eine Sache, die dich vielleicht erstaunt: Nicht einmal von Judas können wir das sagen. I'll tell you one thing that may surprise you: we can not even say that of Judas. Du hast an euren Freund erinnert, der gestorben ist, und du hast daran erinnert, daß er am Gründonnerstag gestorben ist. You have reminded your friend who died, and you reminded that he died on Maundy Thursday. Mir scheint das sehr seltsam, was du diesen Priester sagen hören hast, das müßte man näher wissen. It seems to me very strange what you have heard this priest say, you should know that. Vielleicht ist er nicht richtig verstanden worden… Jedenfalls sage ich dir, daß Gott uns alle ins Paradies bringen will, niemand ausgeschlossen, und daß wir in der Karwoche genau das feiern: das Leiden Jesu, der als Guter Hirte sein Leben für uns hingegeben hat, die wir seine Schäfchen sind. Maybe it has not been understood correctly ... Anyway, I tell you that God wants to bring us all to Paradise, nobody excluded, and that in Holy Week we celebrate just that: the suffering of Jesus, who as Good Shepherd gave his life for us, we are his sheep. Und wenn ein Schäfchen sich verirrt, dann geht Er es suchen, bis Er es findet. And if a sheep gets lost, then He goes looking for it until He finds it. So ist es. That's the way it is. Gott bleibt nicht einfach sitzen. God does not just sit. Er geht, wie Er es uns im Evangelium zeigt: Er ist immer auf dem Weg, um dieses Schäfchen zu finden, und wenn Er uns findet, erschrickt Er auch nicht, wenn wir sehr zerbrechlich sind, wenn wir von Sünden schmutzig sind, wenn wir von allen und vom Leben verlassen sind. He goes as He shows us in the gospel: He is always on the way to find this little lamb, and when He finds us He does not be alarmed when we are very fragile, when we are dirty with sin, when we are are abandoned by all and by life. Er umarmt uns und küßt uns. He hugs us and kisses us. Er müßte nicht kommen, aber Er ist für uns gekommen, der Gute Hirte. He would not have to come, but He came for us, the Good Shepherd. Und wenn ein Schäfchen sich verirrt hat, wenn Er es findet, nimmt er es auf die Schultern und trägt es voll Freude zurück nach Hause. And when a sheep has lost its way, when He finds it, he takes it on his shoulders and carries it home with joy. Ich kann dir eines sagen: Ich bin überzeugt, so wie ich Jesus kenne, bin ich sicher, daß der Herr in jener Karwoche genau das mit eurem Freund gemacht hat.“ I can tell you one thing: I am convinced that just as I know Jesus, I am sure that the Lord did exactly that with your friend during Holy Week. "
